Apparently, David Duke doesn’t exist to you.

Also, you are ignoring this:

“In interviews with The Wall Street Journal and Slate magazine held in 2002 and 2008, Byrd called joining the Klan “the greatest mistake I ever made.” To young people interested in becoming involved in politics, Byrd warned, “Be sure you avoid the Ku Klux Klan. Don’t get that albatross around your neck. Once you’ve made that mistake, you inhibit your operations in the political arena.”

In his autobiography, Byrd wrote that he had become a KKK member because he “was sorely afflicted with tunnel vision — a jejune and immature outlook — seeing only what I wanted to see because I thought the Klan could provide an outlet for my talents and ambitions,” adding, “I know now I was wrong. Intolerance had no place in America. I apologized a thousand times … and I don’t mind apologizing over and over again. I can’t erase what happened … it has emerged throughout my life to haunt and embarrass me and has taught me in a very graphic way what one major mistake can do to one’s life, career, and reputation.””

Also ignoring:

“Biden issued a statement Wednesday afternoon, saying: “I deeply regret any offense my remark in the New York Observer might have caused anyone. That was not my intent and I expressed that to Sen. Obama.”

Biden also spoke to reporters in a conference call Wednesday afternoon and said the remark was taken out of context.

“Barack Obama is probably the most exciting candidate that the Democratic or Republican Party has produced at least since I’ve been around,” Biden said on the call. “And he’s fresh. He’s new. He’s smart. He’s insightful. And I really regret that some have taken totally out of context my use of the world ‘clean.’””

Meanwhile, Republicans say things like:

“Don’t nitpick, don’t try to Jew them down,” Larry Taylor

“This fellow here over here with the yellow shirt, Macaca, or whatever his name is.” George Allen

“I hate the gooks” John Mccain

“2012 is the time we are going to send Mr. Obama home to Kenya or wherever it is” Mark Meadows

Other evidence

Also, it is funny how you ignore great swaths of evidence, like the fact that during the 60’s and 70’s, when this switch apparently never happened, the black vote and party affiliation went from about equal in Republicans and Democrats, to overwhelmingly democrat. The very party YOU claim is horrifically racist.

To claim that modern Liberals are the same people as the people who started the KKK is not only delusional, but also pseudoscientific, ahistorical, nonfactual, and just makes you sound dumb.
